Vitamin B12 plays a role in several key health areas, including supporting red blood cell production, which can help address fatigue and promote sustained energy. However, studies have shown that excessive levels of B12 could be harmful to survivors and therefore should be avoided. Monitor your levels and consult with your healthcare team.*

FAQs

Find answers to your most frequently asked questions

I’ve been taking B12 for many years and want to continue taking it?

We generally do not recommend long-term use of B12 supplements unless your healthcare provider specifically advises it. Regular monitoring of B12 and MMA levels can help guide safe and effective supplementation tailored to your individual needs.

If you’ve been taking B12 for many years, we strongly recommend consulting your healthcare provider. Prolonged supplementation with B12 may not always be beneficial and, in some cases, excessive levels of B12 could be more harmful than helpful. Emerging research suggests that persistently high B12 levels may be linked to certain health risks, including an increased likelihood of developing cancers. Therefore, it’s crucial to regularly reassess your B12 needs with your healthcare provider to ensure your supplementation aligns with your current health status.

I’m not sure if I need B12, what do I do?

We recommend speaking with your health care provider before starting B12. To determine if you are vitamin B12 deficient your healthcare provider will need to do blood work to check your B12 levels and for further testing they can check your methylmalonic acid (MMA) levels. Elevated MMA levels indicate your body isn’t getting enough active B12. If your healthcare provider determines that you are vitamin B12 deficient, we do offer a B12 supplement to be added to your order. Please note that we do recommend that you have your healthcare provider recheck your levels after 3 months of using our B12 supplement.

Why are you not suggesting B12 for long term?

We chose to exclude B vitamins from our main formula due to research suggesting that excessive levels of certain B vitamins may pose risks for cancer survivors. However, if your healthcare provider identifies a B12 deficiency, you may consider adding our B12 supplement to your regimen. After three months of use, we encourage you to consult your healthcare provider to assess whether continued B12 supplementation is necessary.
